Do regular HTML codes work in templates, specifically <font size="?"> </font>, would it need to be following your format?

No they don't. There is a (very) limited subset of HTML "pseudo" code that you can use.
In this case, there is a FONT tag you can use to achieve almost whatever you like:
Whatever text you want in this font
(Does this help?)

Yes, thanks.... must use the "..." around color/size and font:family correct?
Where does the color # come from?
Other than the tags that appear when customizing an e-mail template, is there a more extensive list elsewhere on the site?

Sorry, meant to ask, do the color codes come from the HTML color chart?
John Amato, February 24, 2016:
Yes, the double-quotes around the STYLE attribute are required. That part works exactly like HTML/CSS.
The color values are indeed web hexadecimal colors, same as you would use in a website.
There really aren't many more tags than that. If you have needs that are beyond simple text formatting, centering, bolding, italics (and all of those I believe are in the tag legend), please let me know and we can explore the possibility of adding support for it.
